The artist Esra Ersen receives the Konrad von Soest Prize 2023. The art prize of the Landschaftsverband Westfalen-Lippe ("Regional Association of Westphalia-Lippe", LWL) , which is endowed with 35,000 euros, honors the artist for her special socio-political and cultural-historical achievements in the field of visual arts.
On August 31, 2023, Prasanna Oommen hosted the corresponding award ceremony at the LWL Museum of Art and Culture in Münster. In addition to a film documenting Esra Ersen's life and her work to date, Prasanna Oommen invited, among others, the director of the LWL, Dr. Georg Lunemann, Dr. Rüschoff-Parzinger , the head of the LWL Department of Culture, and Dr. Hermann Arnhold , the director of the LWL Museum of Art and Culture.
The award ceremony has been combined with the opening of the award-related exhibition "Esra Ersen. A Possible History" in the atrium of the museum.
