On 22 March, Federal Minister for Women Lisa Paus awarded the Helene Weber Prize to 15 female local politicians for their commitment to civil society, women's policy and gender equality. Prasanna Oommen moderated the event. The prize is a nationwide initiative to promote the political participation of women and is the only cross-party prize for female local politicians in Germany. All of the award winners show exceptional commitment: to their local community and to democracy. Through their example and their activities, they act as role models to encourage other women to take on responsibility and get involved in local politics.
