Moderation of the kick-off and award ceremony for the cultural hackathon Coding Da Vinci Nieder.Rhein.Land 2021

Since 2014, the Hackathon Coding Da Vinci has been connecting the worlds of culture and technology. It is a joint project of the German Digital Library, the Research and Competence Centre Digitisation Berlin, the Open Knowledge Foundation Germany and Wikimedia Germany and is funded by the German Federal Cultural Foundation.

From mid-September to the beginning of November 2021, the 11th NiederRheinLand Hackathon called on people with an affinity for technology and culture to use open cultural data to develop new ideas such as apps, games, websites and installations.

Prasanna Oommen first moderated the kick-off at the Museum für Angewandte Kunst Köln. There, the cultural data was presented and all interested parties could inform themselves and get to know each other. This was followed by the eight-week creative networking and working phase of the teams. On 6 November, the 12 projects were presented at a festive award ceremony, also moderated by Prasanna Oommen, and three prize winners were chosen by a jury.
