Cultural education has become much more important in recent years. Nevertheless, there is a need for impulses to further develop mediation as an integrative component of the overall strategy in cultural institutions.
This is where the Commerzbank Foundation's award ZukunftsGut der Commerzbank-Stiftung setzt hier an und ist bereits zum dritten Mal an gemeinnützige Kulturinstitutionen vergeben worden, die die Kulturvermittlung ins Zentrum ihrer Arbeit setzen, zukunftsweisende Strategien entwickeln und diese nachhaltig implementieren. Am 27. Oktober 2022 wurden in den Kategorien urbaner und ländlich-kleintädtischer Raum jeweils drei Preisträger*innen gekürt, die für eine auf breite Teilhabe ausgerichtete, institutionenübergreifende und strategisch angelegte Vermittlungsarbeit stehen.
Prasanna Oommen gave a keynote speech at the beginning of the event in which she highlighted the importance of the the following three for cultural institutions: Responsibility, Trust and Outreach. She then moderated a panel discussion on the future of our cultural institutions and the role of education with this year's jury members:
- Puneh Henning (Freelance curator for diversity and migration issues)
- Kerstin Hübner (Deputy Managing Director and Head of the Department of Cooperation and Educational Landscapes of the Bundesvereinigung Kulturelle Kinder- und Jugendbildung e. V., Berlin)
- Deniz Elbir (Commissioner for Diversity, Integration and Antiracism and Head of Diversity, Integration and Participation of the Integration Office, City of Neuss)
- David Vuillaume (Managing Director of the Deutscher Museumsbund, Berlin)
